VEGETABLE PILL SONG — any more verses out there?

From Carole C. My dad used to sing me a song that his mother sang to him (he would be 89 yrs. old). I remember all the lyrics, but I'm afraid, since I can't carry a tune, I may have it wrong and the song will be lost! We always called it the Vegetable Pill song. I've been looking for some evidence of it for as long as I can remember. Here are some of the words (one verse and the refrain) :

There was an old man and he didn't have his health
And he said I am very ill.
He went downtown on a Sunday afternoon
and he bought some vegetable pills.
Oh, he took twenty-six and he went to bed
And he soon fell fast asleep,
What was his surprise when he opened up his eyes,
He had turned into a big red beet.

Refrain:
Oh, if you do
You'll surely rue
How strange to you it would seem.
How funny it would look
if you strung upon a hook and you turned into a lima bean.
